About the Jeep Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator takes the idea of utility to a new level. The Gladiator takes the iconic Wrangler and adds a pickup bed, so you can be sure you’ll always have enough cargo space for your off-road adventure. The wheelbase is quite a bit longer than the Wrangler's, 19.4 inches longer, for better cargo carrying, and towing capacity is much higher as well. None of this takes away from the incredible off-road ability of the Gladiator either, with Jeep combining well-established construction techniques with the latest in technology to deliver unprecedented off-road prowess. Is the Gladiator a pickup truck or an SUV? The beauty of the Gladiator is that it doesn’t matter; it serves equally well as either one, and lets you focus on the adventure at hand.
What the Critics Say
“Along with its five-foot cargo bed, the Gladiator is filled with ingenious interior storage options. Its cabin has a handful of spots to stick a smartphone and a handy compartment hidden under the back seat. The seats themselves can be stowed in multiple ways and then securely locked in place for when the trail turns treacherous.” — Car & Driver
“The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is very easy to like. This burly off-road machine does almost anything the Jeep Wrangler can do, but it's also a practical pickup with a useful bed design and healthy payload and tow ratings. Inside, the cabin is nicely trimmed and easy to live with. It offers a more spacious back seat than any of its closest rivals too. And don't forget: It's the only convertible pickup.” — Edmunds
What’s New in the 2026
The big news for 2026 is a new special edition, the Willys ‘41. This gets its name in part from its Olive Drab ‘41 paint, which is also applied to the 17-inch wheels. Those wheels come with a set of 32-inch mud tires, and a Performance Hood with military-inspired decals is also standard. The Willys ‘41 comes with steel bumpers and a Mopar Triple Hoop Grille Guard. The interior is tan, and there is a Heritage Plaque as well.
Jeep Gladiator Features
Serious Off-Road Capability
Without the ability to handle a wide range of off-road conditions, the Gladiator would be just another midsize pickup truck. Fortunately, it is nowhere near that mundane, and the Gladiator lives up to the Jeep name and then some. The advanced Rock-Trac® 4×4 System from the Wrangler is also found in the Gladiator, bringing superior grip and a maximum fording depth of 31.5 inches. With up to 11.1 inches of ground clearance and excellent articulation, the Gladiator is able to clear obstacles while keeping the wheels on the ground in ways that other pickups simply can’t. Available Tru-Lok® Electronic Locking Differentials send power to the wheels where it’s needed, even over the most challenging terrain. In fact, the Gladiator is so good on difficult terrain that the Gladiator Mojave is the only Desert Rated vehicle in the Jeep lineup, able to handle the unique challenges of heat and low traction. On rocky terrain, you have steel rock rails to protect both the body and the bed from treacherous conditions.
Functional Versatility
One of the most important things in making a successful off-road vehicle or pickup truck is versatility, an ability to handle a wide range of tasks. With the Gladiator, Jeep offers options that no other pickup does, like removable doors or a convertible top. The 7,700-pound towing capacity is significantly higher than other dedicated off-road vehicles, blending the strengths of both vehicles in a way that is entirely unique to the Gladiator. You can have a more specialized version of the Gladiator too, with the Rubicon trim outfitted specifically for rocky terrain, or the desert prowess of the Mojave trim. Your whole adventure group can sit comfortably in the Gladiator too, thanks to an extended wheelbase that gives the Gladiator far more rear legroom than other midsize pickups. A pickup truck can be outfitted for off-road use, but the Gladiator is the only one built specifically for it.
Advanced Technology
Many of the things that make a great off-road vehicle are already well-established as important. Things like big all-terrain tires and heavy-duty long-travel suspension are entirely expected on a vehicle like the Gladiator. But where the Gladiator exceeds expectations is its advanced features, like an available underbody TrailCam that allows you to better avoid obstacles, or Selec-Speed® Control to maintain a consistent crawl speed so that you can focus on steering. Consistent speed over uneven terrain is extremely difficult for even the most experienced drivers, and this feature gives you a huge advantage. To go with all of this is the Uconnect® infotainment system, which includes a big 12.3-inch touchscreen and an intuitive operating system. The standard stereo comes with 8 speakers, certainly more than you get in other pickups, but there is also an available 552-watt Alpine® Premium Audio System with 9 speakers and a 12-channel amplifier, for those who want much more than just above average.
