About the Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler is the heart of the entire Jeep brand, the vehicle that sets the tone for a whole line of off-road-ready vehicles. That’s because the Wrangler sets the bar for off-road vehicles for the entire automotive industry, having earned iconic status before there was even such a thing as a civilian Jeep. Off-roading remains the entire focus of the Wrangler and the huge range of customization options means that it’s easy to dial in your Wrangler for exactly what you need it to do. Sand, rocks, mud, or even rivers, the Wrangler is built to handle all of it with ease. Not only that, but it’s a comfortable place to be, complete with cutting-edge infotainment thanks to the Uconnect® system. It’s even remarkably safe, which is an important quality both on and off the road.

What the Critics Say

“A host of capability-enhancing features are available to help buyers curate their Wrangler exactly to their desired specification. Its broad range of models and features, as well as its reputation for conquering trails, means the Wrangler has what it takes to compete with rivals such as the Toyota 4Runner and the resurrected Ford Bronco.” – Car and Driver

“We can’t think of a more capable or iconic vehicle than the Jeep Wrangler. Want to cruise down by the beach or traverse a rugged trail? There’s a Wrangler for you. Although Jeeps haven’t changed that much in the grand scheme of things, their continued evolution means the current Wrangler offers more creature comforts and usability than ever before.” – Edmunds

What’s New For 2026

Buyers will find two noteworthy updates to the legendary Jeep Wrangler for the 2026 model year. Up first, a new Moab 392 trim level is now the top-tier Wrangler in the model range. These variants come equipped exclusively with the potent 6.4-liter V8 SRT® HEMI® engine along with other unique design cues. Additionally, a new Reign purple metallic exterior color option helps the 2026 Wrangler stand out from the ordinary.

Jeep Wrangler Features

Jeep Wrangler Fording

Capable Performance

Whether you’re on dirt or pavement, the Jeep Wrangler packs enough power to make the trip effortless. The base engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 which produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than enough to get you over whatever log and boulders might be in your path but there is another option for enhanced efficiency. That is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This engine is particularly more efficient at lower speeds, such as city driving or most off-roading. For the ultimate Wrangler experience, select models are available with the muscular 6.4-liter V8 SRT® HEMI® engine, cranking out an impressive 470 horsepower. Whichever engine you choose, the Wrangler has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, useful for when you need to take some serious equipment off-road.

Jeep Wrangler Offroad

Off-Road Excellence

Off-roading is what the Jeep Wrangler is all about. Even if the looks evoke a vehicle from WWII, the Wrangler couldn’t lead the off-road segment without some highly advanced tech. That means things like the available Tru-Lok® Electronic-Locking Differentials for both the front and rear axles and a full set of underbody skid plates to protect this advanced system. There is also Selec-Speed® Control which does the difficult job of maintaining a consistent low speed for you (up to 5 MPH) while you focus on navigating especially tricky terrain. To help with hills, there is Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC) which are especially vital on steep hills with loose terrain. The Wrangler even has an Off-Road+ drive setting for the most challenging of conditions. In those conditions, you’ll be happy to know that there are both front and rear tow hooks.

Jeep Wrangler Interior

Adventure-Ready Interior

For some off-road vehicles, the interior is treated as an afterthought, but not so with the Wrangler. Despite the retro exterior styling, the Wrangler interior is thoroughly modern and comfortable. Available equipment includes a Remote Start System, Heated Front Seats and Steering Wheel, Nappa Leather-Trimmed Upholstery, and an Alpine® Premium Sound System. The fifth-generation Uconnect® system controls quite a lot of the functions but Jeep knows that when you’re off-roading, sometimes you don’t want to take the time to navigate menus. This is precisely the reason why the Wrangler still has quite a few conventional buttons, knobs, and switches. Additional features like camera views wouldn’t be possible without a good screen. This makes the 12.3-inch unit in the Wrangler extremely useful.
