2027 Chrysler Pacifica vs. Honda Odyssey Comparison
Chances are that when you think of a minivan, you think of Chrysler. That’s because Chrysler led the charge in popularizing the vehicle type in the first place, and today it brings that extensive breadth of experience to the Pacifica. But other brands have gotten in on minivan building, and the Pacifica’s chief rival is the Honda Odyssey. The Odyssey is a competent minivan, and its popularity isn’t unwarranted, but does it have what it takes to compete with the Pacifica and its illustrious history? The Odyssey does indeed fall short of the Pacifica in some key areas; read on to see the value that the Chrysler Pacifica delivers.

The first thing we need to say about this comparison is that the Odyssey starts off more expensive than the Pacifica, so we’re upgrading the Pacifica to the Select trim instead of the base trim, to bring the two vehicles closer in price, and thus better demonstrating which one gives you the most for your money. In terms of technical specifications, these two are nearly identical. They both come with a standard V6, and the Pacifica has a small 7-horsepower advantage. Size is basically the same too, with differences measured in tenths of an inch. The Pacifica can tow 100 more pounds, which is also unlikely to be a major deciding factor. But there is one very important difference in the drivetrain: the Pacifica is offered with all-wheel drive, and the Odyssey isn’t. With the kinds of winters we see here in Michigan, AWD is an important safety feature.
But it’s the standard equipment where we see the biggest differences between these two. The 2nd-row seats in the Pacifica are more comfortable captain’s chairs, something not available in the Odyssey. And while a lot of the safety features are the same for both vehicles, only the Pacifica comes with an emergency SOS feature. Other safety features like rain-sensing wipers and parking sensors require you to upgrade to a higher trim of the Odyssey. In fact, rain-sensing wipers are only available on the top trim of the Odyssey, which adds nearly $10,000 to the price. The same is true for the heated steering wheel, standard on the Pacifica but only on the top trim of the Odyssey. It’s easier to keep all the kids occupied in the Pacifica as well, thanks to the standard WiFi hotspot that again requires a trim upgrade in the Odyssey. It should also be noted that Honda doesn’t offer much in the way of à la carte options for the Odyssey, so even basic options like a cabin camera, which is available as an individual option for the Pacifica, is once again only available as a trim upgrade in the Honda. And lastly, while both minivans come with emergency roadside assistance coverage, the Pacifica offers considerably more.
Winner - Chrysler Pacifica
For all that’s the same about these two minivans, the Pacifica is still the clear winner. The available all-wheel drive is nearly enough to declare it the winner all by itself, but the huge differences in the rest of the standard and available equipment really seal the deal.
