About the Ram 1500 RHO
Ram is already known for excellent off-road trucks, offering several different off-road models including a heavy-duty option. When you want serious performance from your off-road truck, you want the 1500 RHO. The RHO comes with a generous helping of off-road equipment, things like 11.8 inches of ground clearance, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and a full set of skid plates. On top of that, there is a high-performance version of the 3.0-liter Hurricane engine. Ram sets a high standard for cabin comfort and the RHO comes with an exceptionally well-equipped interior to keep you comfortable as you fly over sand dunes or charge through rivers. There is no area where the Ram 1500 RHO fails to impress.
What the Critics Say
“Ram has redefined expectations for truck interiors with its latest half-ton pickups, which deliver rich-looking materials and impeccable insulation from outside noise. That level of luxury and refinement carries over into the performance-oriented RHO, which is offered solely as a crew cab with a short cargo bed. Leather and suede upholstery is standard and interior upgrades include upholstered dash panels and carbon-fiber accents.” - Car & Driver
“As the performance flagship, it is set apart by bespoke body paneling, underbody protection and skidplates, 35-inch knobbly tires, and 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels (available). The wheel arches are dramatically flared to accommodate a track that's six inches wider than the regular Ram 1500. Buyers will have the option to add full-length rock rails or just opt for aluminum running boards, and there are body-side and hood graphics available to personalize the truck further.” - CarBuzz
What’s New for 2026
Some shuffling of the exterior colors highlights the key changes to the Ram 1500 RHO for the 2026 model year. Colors that have been dropped from the option list this year include Flame Red Clearcoat, Hydro Blue Pearlcoat, and Granite Crystal Metallic Clearcoat. Conversely, buyers can now choose from four new colors for 2026. These include Canyon Lake, Delmonico Red Pearlcoat, Molten Red Pearlcoat, Serrano Green Metallic, and Silver Zynith.Ram 1500 RHO Features
Blistering Performance
High-performance off-road pickup trucks aren’t really all that common, but the Ram 1500 RHO still reigns supreme. The RHO comes with more standard horsepower than the Ford F-150 Raptor and no engine available for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 even comes close to the power output of the 3.0-liter turbocharged engine in the RHO. That’s because the engine, known as the Hurricane, is on the absolute cutting-edge of engine technology and the result is 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. That power is sent through an 8-speed automatic transmission and then out to all four wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and a High-Speed E-Locker Rear Axle. With launch control engaged, the RHO goes from 0-60 in just 4.6 seconds. The RHO comes with 11.8 inches of ground clearance and the factory-installed Bilstein® shocks employ remote reservoirs to allow for maximum suspension travel.
Luxurious Interior
Ram is famous for having the best pickup truck interiors on the market. Comfortable, well-designed, and highly functional, every trim of the Ram 1500 comes with an excellent interior but the RHO comes especially well-equipped. The performance-themed interior includes 12-way power seats that are trimmed in leather and heated. Even the back seats recline, a feature you won’t find on any competitor. The standard 9-speaker stereo compares favorably to most pickup truck stereos, but the available 19-speaker Harman Kardon® system blows them all out of the water. Dual-zone climate control means your passenger will be comfortable and the available 10.25-inch passenger-side touchscreen gives them more entertainment options as well. It even has an HDMI port for enhanced connectivity. Both the driver and front passenger charge your phones at the same time thanks to the dual wireless charging pads. The Ram 1500 RHO might already be plenty impressive thanks to its performance, but the superb interior puts it even higher above the competition.
Cutting-Edge Technology
Part of the reason why you don’t see that many high-performance off-road vehicles is that it takes some serious tech wizardry to build a truck that can perform consistently across the wide variety of conditions that you experience when you steer off the pavement. A big part of what gives the RHO the ability to handle these conditions is the Bilstein® Black Hawk® e2 Shock System, which constantly monitors things like speed, throttle position, braking, torque, and steering angle, so that changing conditions can be adapted to instantly. To help further with this, the RHO has nine selectable drive modes: Mud/Sand, Rock, Baja, Valet, Auto, Tow, Snow, Sport, and Custom. Since you’re probably going to drive your RHO on the road at least a bit, there are advanced driver assistance features like Hands-Free Active Driving Assist, which lets you relax and take your hands off the wheel while driving on the highway.
